Successful Launching of KOE-01 Self-elevating Offshore Wind Turbine Installation Vessel

KOE-01 self-elevating Offshore Wind Turbine Installation Vessel(WTIV) invested by KOE was successfully launched in Longxue Shipbuilding Base of HPS, at 10:30 am, December 15. Representatives from various companies attended the launching ceremony.
KOE-01 platform signed the construction contract in September 2015, the construction period is 18 months, and it will be officially put into use in March 2017. The vessel is designed for offshore wind turbine installation and operation and maintenance, offshore engineering support, and is suitable for offshore operation within 45m water depth.
The vessel has an overall length of 85.8m, a molded breadth of 40m, a molded depth of 7m, a leg height of 80m, a deck area of about 2,000㎡, a variable load of 2,500 tons, a endurance of 30 days, and a crew complement of 80 people. It takes into account the advantages of self-elevating vessels and floating vessels. It can complete the mission of offshore operations alone, carry multiple wind turbines at one time, reduce the reliance on the local ports, and ensure a good stability to meet the installation and service needs of various wind farms.
The key equipment of the vessel are JYM-HJ3600 jacking system and 800T leg-encircling crane(LEC). The JYM-HJ3600 continuous hydraulic pin jacking system is designed and manufactured by KOE independently. It is designed for a service life of 2500 jacking cycles (25 years), with a lifting speed more than double that of step-jacking systems. In addition, the vessel can not only meet the installation and maintenance requirements of the domestic main 3 - 4MW offshore wind turbines and the world's mainstream 5 - 6MW offshore wind turbines, but also reserve the space of installation and maintenance capacity for the future upgrading of wind turbines.
Over the years, KOE has been actively advocating independent innovation, and has been committed to providing solutions and technical services for domestic and foreign customers, winning wide recognition in the offshore industry. In the future, KOE will integrate offshore engineering equipment manufacturing and services, green new energy technology, and join hands with the industry authority to build an industrial chain of wind turbine installation and maintenance equipment in China.
